Join us as we celebrate local history month at The Story with a free talk from fashion curator and researcher Amanda Raine.
You are invited to step into the everyday wardrobe of a Teesdale woman. The talk will provide the opportunity to consider the significance of clothing, which is ordinary and often considered mundane, for the study of fashion.
About Amanda Raine
After studying for a degree in the History of Art and pursuing a career in Children’s Services, Amanda studied for a Masters in Fashion Curation at the London College of Fashion. During this time, she became interested in curating small scale, pop-up exhibitions. Returning to her main career she progressed to senior management roles in the NHS and is now the General Manager for a charity in Teasdale. Post – pandemic she resumed her research studies and is currently studying part-time at the University of the Creative Arts, Farnham. She has curated and taken part in exhibitions in a range of settings: domestic, church, museum and online in the UK & internationally. She is interested to hear from individuals who would like to share their wardrobe stories and/or co-produce exhibition displays.
