Boer War Memorial within Garden of Remembrance, Barnard Castle
Structure
This is a war memorial dedicated to those of the 3rd Militia Batt. DLI who fell in the Boer War, S. Africa 1899-1902. The memorial consists of a red granite boulder on top of a square stone coursed plinth. Unveiled 1905, restored 2009. It is situated within a Garden of Remembrance on Galgate that is itself a dedicated memorial to fallen soldiers from WW2. (1-2)
