A circular medal, obverse shows uncrowned left-facing effigy of King George V. Reverse shows St George on horseback armed with a sword and dates ‘1914’ and ‘1918’. Edge inscription: ‘9-3995 PTE. R. MARSHALL. DURH.L.I.’ (Impressed capitals). Ribbon is watered silk with royal blue edges and broad central orange stripe bordered with narrow white then black stripes.
