A silver, commemorative ‘1895 Cowen’ medal. Obverse shows bust of ‘Cowen’ with surrounding inscription. Reverse shows stringed Durham Light Infantry bugle with inscription’5TH V.B. DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY’. Has plain swivel straight suspension bar. Ribbon is dark blue. The medal is unnamed. Originally owned by Colonel John A Cowen, 5th Volunteer Battalion, Durham Light Infantry, 1860-1895. This is a rare medal.
