A circular medal, obverse shows left-facing bust of Queen Victoria. Reverse shows Britannia, holding flag and laurel crown, soldiers, and ships and has inscription: ‘SOUTH AFRICA’ around top. Edge is inscribed: ‘6484 PTE. W. HIBBERT. DURHAM LT INFY’ (Impressed capitals). Has 4 medal clasps: ‘LAING’S NEK’, ‘TRANSVAAL’, ‘RELIEF OF LADYSMITH’ and ‘TUGELA HEIGHTS’. Ribbon has red edges with two blue stripes and a broad central orange stripe. Associated person: Hibbert, W (service number: 6484)
