Dunham Estate – Lead mining and geology

Catalogue of the papers of Sir Kingsley Dunham FRS. Maps, mine plans and sections, reports and correspondence relating to research at Durham as a Ph.D. candidate, 1930 – 1932; as a Professor of Geology, 1950 – 1966; and as an independent consultant, 1976 – 1986; together with papers of his fellowship at Harvard, 1932 – 1935; tenure of the Miller Visiting Professorship, University of Illinois, 1956 – 1957; and international visits undertaken as Director of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Natural Environment Research Council, 1967 – 1975, and as Foreign Secretary of the Royal Society, 1972 – 1976. As far as possible, mining data is listed under the Company concerned, irrespective of whether it exists now or not. Scales of maps, plans and sections are listed as ratios.
