Detailed description of process of making bottles from glass, then they were packed. Big factory, new boy would be put on collecting men’s lunches from their houses. People had nicknames – time boy asked for lunch by nickname, “Devil”. Knocker up. Man who went for a run each morning. Origins of nicknames. He was called Holy Ghost as grandfather and father already there as father and son! Men would be singing in harmony while throwing the glowing pipes of glass around. Yearly trip to Scarborough by sea. “Pot rings” used to catch impurities so they didn’t get in glass. Gravel beach, man employed with horse and cart to take gravel up to lorries. Used to make and sell crystal radio sets. Has made model fairground with lots of working components, people come to see it. Used to keep three sheep, cricket ground would borrow them, sometimes bought more sheep that would follow the old ones that knew their way around, even to the slaughter house.
