Explore the stories of six Durham men caught up in the trenches of the First World War. What did they experience on those battlefields? Who was waiting for them at home? Did they make it home?’
Our soldiers include; George Roberts, a teacher from Chester-le-Street, who wrote back to his class, telling them about his experiences and James Birch, a vicar from Darlington who served as a chaplain and kept a diary illustrated with his own sketches.

This workshop includes supported group investigation, object handling and presenting finds to the class.
