Copy deed of appointment of (2) by (1) as trustees of a parcel of copyhold land bounded on the west by a lane called Back Garths or Crow Tree Lane, on the east by part of a garden, on the south by a public highway, on the north by a back lane; ten almshouses built thereon for ten poor women; £3,333 6s. 8d. in 3% Consolidated Bank Annuities; and £833 6s. 8d. in 3% Reduced Annuities, upon trust forever to permit the ten almshouses to be held by ten women of age 56 years or upward, each to be of irreproachable moral character, a member of the Church of England, and a widow or an unmarried daughter of a master mariner who shall have been resident either in the parish of Sunderland or the parish of Bishopwearmouth, and shall have been or shall be commander of a ship belonging to the port of Sunderland; each woman to be resident at the time of her nomination in Sunderland or Bishopwearmouth, but not receiving any relief from the poor rates or having an income of more than £20 p.a.; the said ten women to hold the charity until their death, resignation or removal; one of the ten poor women to be appointed matron; and upon trust to pay the interest of the £3,333 6s. 8d. to the ten women in equal portions, and to pay the interest of the £833 6s. 8d. to insure the premises against fire; to pay the matron the extra sum of £4 p.a.; to pay the treasurer £5 p.a.; and to pay the funeral expenses of such of the ten women as shall die in the almshouses without leaving effects of sufficient value for that purpose.
